On June 23, 2018 come experience the first annual “Rollin’ Rally” at Kirkwood’s Continuing Education Training Center. Children and their families will have the opportunity see various types of transportation vehicles and learn more about Transportation and Logistics industry careers and employment opportunities. This event is a collaboration of the Transportation Sector Board and coincides with the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. The even runs from 10:00am - 2:00pm. See link for more details.

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce will be holding a family-friendly agriculture appreciation event on Friday, June 22nd at the Maasdam Barns. Booths will be open from 5:00-8:00pm.

NADS will provide hands-on STEM activities at the African American Museum of Iowa's 2018 Juneteenth Celebration. The celebration will be held at the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids (see link for address and details). The event will run from 12:00-4:00pm.

Are you or someone you know looking for a fun, FREE summer activity? Visit the Johnson County Fair on Wednesday, July 26th for the first-ever STEM Day. STEM Day is perfect for K-12 students who are interested in hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math!
What: STEM Day at the Johnson County Fair
When: Wednesday, July 26th from 3-7pm
Where: Building B at the fairgrounds
Cost: The fair is free and open to the public!
Exhibitors include: National Advanced Driving Simulator, Grow: Johnson County, Iowa Flood Center, Southeast Iowa STEM Hub, Iowa ATV Injury Prevention Task Force, UI Health Care, State Hygienic Laboratory, and Iowa Tech Chicks
*The Johnson County Fair STEM Day is organized by the SAFER-SIM University Transportation Center at the National Advanced Driving Simulator. The SAFER-SIM program is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of researchers who use innovative simulation approaches to promote safety by sponsoring research, hosting STEM outreach activities, and aiding in transportation safety workforce development efforts. In its 9th year, this biennial UI-sponsored symposium is focused on providing an interdisciplinary forum for scientific exchange between users of driving assessment tools, applications, and technology. Attendees include researchers and practitioners working on applications of driving assessment from the perspective of engineering, psychology, medicine, and public health.

A virtual workshop on driving simulator research. This page includes slides presented at the 2013 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting by UI and University of Washington researchers. Links to training materials used by the NADS to train staff in identifying symptoms of simulator sickness are also provided.
