Abstract:Dan McGehee presented to the Transportation Research Board (TRB) mid-year meeting in early Sept. 2020 about our recommendations for human subjects testing in driving research for the COVID-19 era. How we keep people safe in driving research—in both simulators and on-road vehicles—is not something that had been widely shared or standardized among our research peers.

Our team consulted with various infectious disease experts, including Loreen Herwaldt, MD, a COVID-19 expert from the University of Iowa, as well as members from the WHO and the past president of Canadian Infectious Disease Society. Our recommendations to the TRB was met with an overwhelming positive response and appreciation.
